Lenovo Group is a global technology company that designs, develops and manufactures a wide range of products for consumers and businesses. It is best known for its personal computers and also makes smartphones (including the Motorola brand), tablets, servers and other smart devices.
The company was founded in Beijing in 1984 by Liu Chuanzhi and a group of ten engineers. It started out distributing computers under the name "Legend" and adopted the Lenovo brand in 2003. In 2005, Lenovo completed its acquisition of IBM's personal computer business, which greatly expanded its global presence. Lenovo has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 1994 and trades under the ticker 0992.HK.
Today, Lenovo is one of the world's largest PC makers, offering laptops, desktops, tablets and accessories that serve the changing needs of consumers and businesses.
Like many shares, Lenovo's stock fell sharply in March 2020 as concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic hit global markets. The share price later recovered and has since reached record highs, supported by demand for AI-enabled PCs and servers.
